She-lizard

So on my bed
a she-lizard

at first I cry out
Look!
and I'm sure she'll be gone in a moment
But the moment extends and it seems like she feels fine just here
and I can breastfeed my beautiful boy
while quietly
watching her movement
small
slow
twists of the head
arms extended

These last 6 weeks I've been watching the wonder that is
my child
Have I ever spent so much time looking at one thing?
